At heart, Jamie has always been an educator and a facilitator, seeking to create a positive impact on the world around her. Her love of other cultures and her ideals of equality and justice led her to pursue a degree in Third World Studies as a potential opening to international social work. However, she quickly realized the scope of such work was too broad for her liking and narrowed her focus towards women's health. She has worked over the past sixteen years as an educator in a variety of situations including Planned Parenthood, a battered women's shelter, a women's rehabilitation center for eating disorders and chemical dependency, and an international boarding school. The desire to blend a deeper aspect of the body-mind component to her educational skills led her to massage school in 1993 and to Kundalini yoga teacher training in 2005.

Jamie now sees her primary role as one of a facilitator in the process of wellness and self-discovery. She is interested in helping people to reconnect emotionally, physically, and spiritually with their bodies as a way to achieve optimal health and inner peace. She offers a nurturing space for healing and growth in which safety, boundaries, trust and confidentiality play a critical role. Jamie works at a level that is respectful to the condition of the individual's body and mind so as not to trigger the body's natural defense mechanisms such as muscle tightening or emotionally closing down. Releasing tension in a muscle or in the core system is like performing a stretch correctly…one goes just to the point of resistance and then waits, supporting the release process until the muscle softens and, only then, going to the next point of resistance. Listening to the cues of the body and following them respectfully is vital to her partnership work with her clients.

Jamie strives to empower those around her to understand and use their bodies more fully and efficiently. To this end, she can be found educating people in her massage office at the Jensen Health & Energy Center, at Good Harvest Market talks, in corporate wellness programs and in the yoga studio. She also offers individual Kundalini Yoga instruction to provide client's with specific tools for specific conditions and needs.

She resides with her husband and two children in the Brookfield area. Her "free" time is spent volunteering at the Prairie Hill Waldorf school where her children attend, organizing and facilitating a monthly produce coop, and managing a household. She enjoys reading, sewing, and watching independent and foreign films.
To stay grounded and sane, she is committed to a daily yoga, meditation, and exercise practice which includes both Kundalini and Hatha yoga, biking, swimming, and walking.
