Our Treatments
Clinical
Kinesiology
To test the health of the three basic body systems, we use Clinical
Kinesiology (CK). Our doctors test specific muscles to obtain
information about your body's stresses and the way that it has adapted
to them. Your body will display changes in muscle response, in a binary
manner, according to specific patterns. Dr. Alan Beardall, the developer
of CK, said, "Muscle testing is a biological computer evaluation. If
interpreted correctly, adequate insight into body signs, symptoms and
language is easily processed into meaningful information."
Chiropractic
Adjustments
We use a variety of spinal manipulation techniques including:
Diversified, Activator, Toftness, Nimmo, Cox, Non-force, Myofascial
Release, S.O.T., Motion Palpation and a wide variety of kinesiology
based adjusting techniques. Each person's body will be tested
individually to see which technique and intensity range is best for
them.
Acupuncture /
Meridian Therapy
Acupuncture is one method used in traditional Oriental Medicine's
treatment of "Qi" (pronounced Chi) energy. Qi is the energy of life that
flows through all of us. It flows vertically through twelve meridians
(or channels) and then spreads deeper feeding energy to the organs and
muscles. If the Qi does not flow in a smooth, balanced way, there is
stress in the body systems. Acupuncture is the science of treating those
stresses through the insertion of thin needles into, and gentle
stimulation of, points along the meridians. It allows the Qi to flow
unobstructed through our bodies. Acupressure (without needles), magnetic
therapy and Shiatsu are also available to treat blockage to Qi and may
be used for a variety of therapeutic benefits and for those
uncomfortable with needles.
Performance
Enhancement
Many professional athletes realize that they can perform better and
reduce their injuries by increasing the efficiency of the body. When
there is uneven muscle pull or a lack of coordination between muscle
groups, it is hard to get the most out of your workouts. It is
frustrating to work so hard and not make progress. With kinesiological
evaluation, we can re-balance your muscles so that they work more
efficiently and effectively. We treat both professional and amateur
athletes and dancers for both performance enhancement and for sports
related injuries. We work with our patients and their trainers or health
clubs to design individual treatments and programs that are right for
their situation. Sports wellness is emphasized. Chiropractic rehab or
combination programs are also available to aid in recovery from injury.
Massage
Therapy
Our staff
includes Certified Massage Therapists trained in Deep Muscle,
Neuro-muscular, Polarity, Reiki, Craniosacral. Swedish Massage, hot
stone massage, Lymphatic massage and Thai massage. We also have a
certified Rolfer on staff. They work closely with our doctors to
integrate relaxing and enjoyable body therapies into your treatment
program.
Craniosacral Therapy
The skull is composed of eight major cranial bones. These bones must
move gently in subtle harmony with our breathing, for our bodies to have
normal nerve and energy functions. Common problems associated with
improper cranial movement include: Headaches & Migraines, Chronic Back
Pain, Dyslexia, Menstrual Distress, Recurring Infections, Scoliosis,
Sinus Problems, Visual Disturbances, Hyperactivity, Lowered Vitality,
Autism, and Strabismus. Our doctors adjust these bones using techniques
that fit your individual needs.
Rolfing
A human being is more than a collection of parts. There is a pattern,
and order, in human bodies. That pattern - how parts fit and work
together as a whole - is a basic factor in well being or its lack.
Rolfing structural integration promotes well being by enhancing the
body's pattern of organization. It balances the body in gravity and
enables participants to function at successively higher levels of
efficiency and ease.
Temporalmandibular Joint Dysfunction (TMJ)
The jaw joint is called the temporalmandibular joint. TMJ dysfunction
can create health problems in areas other than the jaw, including
headaches, back pain, shoulder pain and other functional problems.
Treatment for TMJ may include balance of the jaw's muscular activity,
craniosacral therapy, nutritional changes or referral for dental
corrections. We work closely with many area dentists involved in the
treatment of TMJ.
