Herbal Support for Allergies:
Herbal therapy may benefit seasonal allergies by helping to reduce the allergic and inflammatory response in the body.  They can also support and strengthen the body against reactions to the allergen.  While it is still recommended that exposure to known allergens be reduced or eliminated, some herbal formulations may be able to treat the symptoms manifesting in the respiratory tract.
For best results with seasonal allergies it is recommended that  you start taking the herbs at least six weeks prior to the start of the season and then continue throughout the season.  Schedule your appointment TODAY with Dr.Shulfer, Dr. Gandy or Helen for specific herbal recommendations.

Acupuncture treatments can be very effective for reducing nasal congestion, burning eyes, itching and sneezing.  It can also help the liver to process allergens and help reduce inflammation in the sinuses.

Massage Therapy, Myofascial Release and Allergies by Kristin Schwengel, WCMT
At its most basic, an allergy is the body's natural defensive mechanisms on red alert, acting in extreme response to a normally innocuous substance.  Although there are many factors influencing these reactions, systemic stress and pressure can increase sensitivities.  Using massage to release muscle tension and reduce stress can relieve some symptoms (treatment involving the upper body, including the head and neck, can be very beneficial for sinus pressure).  Research has shown that massage therapy decreases production of stress hormones - over time, this treatment can have a preventive effect on future symptoms.  Even digestive sensitivities can be improved with bodywork, particularly myofascial release therapy.    Myofascial release therapy's gentle techniques help to mobilize and loosen many restrictions that cause dysfunction.
